Finally — some much-needed relief for the Nepali fans at Wankhede.
They have turned up in massive numbers, travelling all the way from Nepal and different parts of India, filling the stands with passion, pride, and unwavering support. The energy was incredible. The fans truly showed up well
But Team Nepal? Disappointing.
They arrived in India a month before the World Cup, with all four of their matches scheduled at Wankhede. They were familiar with the conditions, having already played a few practice games in Mumbai against the MCA XI. The preparation was there.
After scaring England with a spirited performance, they stumbled badly — humbled by first-timers Italy, outplayed comprehensively by the West Indies, and just managed a close win against Scotland. Far too inconsistent for a side with such backing.
There’s talent in this team, no doubt. But the leadership needs sharper decision-making, and the performances must match the passion of the supporters.
These fans deserve more.
Here’s hoping Nepal regroups, learns, and rises stronger from here.
